In my opinion the Clinton Administration turned the CIA from an excellent operational and intelligence agency into a corporate bunch of careerist bureaucrats worrying about the legal aspects of doing their job instead of actively defending America!
Am I wrong that he generally refused to meet with the Director of the Agency officially? Maybe only once or twice a year? Or was it only once or twice during his 8-year Presidency?
Am I wrong that Clinton issued orders that the CIA was not permitted to obtain information or run agents together with anyone who did not have a "clean" record?
Infiltration for black ops or carrying them out had to be achieved through pristine clean channels and people?
Somewhat like infiltrating one of our gangs in the USA but not being allowed to use or turn any gang member, who had ever been arrested, to achieve this.
Think of it as similar to forbidding New York police (for example) to carry guns in doing their duty to protect city residents! Almost all the force would resign (as did so many agents) or soon be dead.
In this environment, CIA analysts took over from those with operational backgrounds.
Makes me angry to acquire the opinion that our best people were emasculated to suit a Clinton philosophical abberation.
Even angrier perhaps that some of what could perhaps be described as the "residual silt" of these "career bureaucrats" still at their jobs, now apparently leak semi-classified information to sabotage the Bush administration's efforts to keep us safe.
Instead of helping make it so, apparently using leaks to the New York Times and other eager Mass Media with what I believe invalid accusations of the outing of a non-clandestine CIA operative. Despite efforts to claim the contrary by her - without any tangible proof of her still being in a covert operation position or carrying out covert duties.
Other than simly being a CIA emloyee, who more than five years earlier did some covert work.
We have real Islamic enemies. We need a few less internal ones like these whose real duty is to protect the nation not enforce their political viewpoints.
