LET'S NOT REPEAT OUR IRAN MISTAKES WITH PAKISTAN

The World Bank is in the processs of transfering nearly ONE BILLION dollars to the regime of Ahmadi-Nejad in Iran. ($900 million approved from before). So American money will be funding the anti-USA actions of our worst enemy and killer of our soldiers and civilians in Iraq. This money would pass through Iranian banks, like Bank Melli, that have been blacklisted and should not be used to channel the funds. This roadblock seems to have given pause but not stopped the cash flow. In fact Iran appears to have already received some $50 million during the summer months. The situation in Pakistan resembles what faced the late Shah of Iran when the Soviets inflamed an uneducated and politically ignorant VERY young populace to rise up and bring in a new religious “hero” Khomeini. Some 50% of the Pakistani population polled stated they wanted Osama bin Laden as their leader. They already have their Khomeini in place. Some four of the geographical divisions of Pakistan are Taleban controlled and oriented to sharia law and strict Islamic behavior and mind sets. A very high percentage of the total population of the country leans toward sharia religious law and strict Islamic customs. Dry tinder for inflaming similar to Iran in the old days. A religious take-over of Pakistan, like Khomeini in Iran will certainly lead to a huge blow to Western interests. The question remains whether the Bush Administration/USA will follow Jimmy Carter’s inept and idiotic handling of the revolution against the Shah and put “idealistic democracy” over allowing Pakistan’s secular leader to block a terrorist take over. And maintain a pro-West status within Pakistan. Already the State Department and President Bush are making noises about “democracy” and “elections” similar to those uttered by Carter back in 1978. Meanwhile Musharaf has to face fanatical, suicidal, Islamic terrorist actions that neither follow democratic norms nor would allow a spark of democracy to survive in Pakistan after they take over. So let’s not help them by weakening Musharaf. Again we are demanding political suicide for Pakistan in the name of an ephemeral democracy that exists in name only anywhere else in the world except the USA - even in much of Europe. With Osama bin Laden in Pakistan’s Waziristan, it is a short step to much of Pakistan pledging allegiance to him and allowing him free movement in the four already “Taleban” regions. And the official power to order sharia law and anti-Western activity inside and outside the country. The Islamic Jihadists will not follow Benazir Bhutto so she is not an alternative option. Nor powerful enough to fight against them. And! Pakistan’s nuclear capability falling into terrorist and Al Qaeda hands, even if only some dirty bomb useful, radioactive material and not the bombs Pakistan possesses - must weigh heavily in favor of supporting the only thing standing in the way of this horrifying event - Pervez Musharaf! Let’s not cut our own throats by following in Carter’s footsteps which, some 30-years later, are the root of all our terrorist troubles today.
