سفره هفت سین خود را با این سکههای شکلاتی زیبا کامل کنید یا آن که برای نوروز این شیرینیها را هدیه دهید. با سپاس شهریار جاوید
By chance we received this entrepreneur's Email last year but too late to do much about it to reward his effort to share the pre-islamic, Zoroastrian New Year (still celebrated on the first day of Spring in islamic iran and by Afghans).
The Persian New Year - "Now (pronounced 'no') Rouz" has many traditions, one of which is to give family members with lower seniority or younger than you with a gold coin. Silver for poorer ones and these chocolate ones in this terrible economy.
Another is to decorate a tray or table with seven items begining with the letter "s" or "seen" in Farsi and the word for coin is "sekkeh", thus qualifying as one fo the "s" items on the decorated area, including flowers, one of which "sombol" also starts with 's'.
Also, traditionally everyone tries to buy new clothes and shoes and then visit all their family members, dressed to the nines, with the most senior ones getting priority. Each family also announces/coordinates an "at home" day and time during which their friends and relatives visit bringing flowers and sweets.
As it gets harder and harder to keep decent cultural ceremonies alive when so many have been driven from their countries by regimes like the islamic one in iran with their lethal, bloody punishment for anything non-islamic, we felt it appropriate to encourage someone like Shahriar Javid.
So take this at face value and enjoy his thoughtful effort.
