SUNDAY MARCH 20th AT 4:20:48 PM PACIFIC SUMMER TIME IN CALIFORNIA
The Persian calendar will move into the year 1370 (year 2570 of Monarchy in Iran) at that time just as we "cross" at midnight in the Western world. March 20th-21st is the first day of the Persian year. Though the 21st will the first full day like our January 1st.
We are already in the final 10-days of our third month when their first month starts.
Months are also different, not only in name but very closely follow the dates structure of the signs of the Zodiac. Makes it challenging for Persians asked to provide western dates if they cannot figure out the formula.
One of the traditions of Now Ruz consists of laying out as lovely a decoration as you can put together, consisting of SEVEN items starting with the letter "s". (Haft/seven Seen/"s" in Persian). Two classic versions can be seen in the cards. The middle card is from a "military" aligned group called Sarbaz (soldier) as a New Year greeting to those who oppose the regime.
