Background information about Hezbollah and its involvement in anti-Israel and international terrorism according to Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center Special Bulletins Overview On July 12, 2006, Hezbollah carried out the most serious terrorist attack against IDF forces and Israeli communities along the Israeli-Lebanese border since the IDF withdrew from Lebanon in May 2000. During the attack two Israeli soldiers were abducted, eight soldiers and one civilian woman were killed and approximately 54 soldiers and civilians were wounded (as of noon on July 13). The Israeli government convened an emergency meeting and stated that it viewed the Lebanese government as solely responsible for the Hezbollah attack. In response to the attack the IDF shelled Lebanese infrastructures and Hezbollah targets in both north and south Lebanon.

Hezbollah responded by firing Katyusha rockets at Israeli population centers in the northern part of the country. A separate analysis of the Hezbollah attack and the IDF's response will appear during the day. During the past few years the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center has issued dozens of Information Bulletins about Hezbollah, its involvement in anti-Israli and global terrorism and about the sponsorship it receives from Syria and Iran.

They can be found in the ITIC Website through the “Hezbollah” link. The following is a selection of ITIC Information Bulletins providing basic and day-to-day information from the past year about Hezbollah activities: A. Basic information:
